Was White… Now Purple? Or Black?

May 19, 2010 | Uncategorized | 21 comments

I rarely ask opinions… but I am so undecided.
The Gown
(as seen in the previous post),
what’s it gonna be ladies?
 Or Black.
It was supposed to be Navy Blue but all I can get is purple.  I like purple but it’s not a color I run towards.  This is like Diana in Chicago purple… but I just don’t know… the once green sash dyed a navyish sort of color…
Black would be awesome.  And don’t say black is over done… I am still carrying baby weight and the thinner I feel the better…
What to do.
 I have to decide.
 The clock is ticking.
Tick tock.  Tick tock.
The Nada Farm Sale is coming!

  1. Valerie

    Well…since I know you’re not normally one for opinions…LOL

I agree that I don’t think black can ever be over done…I think it would look stunning.

Personally, I love the purple, but since the sash came out navy blue…maybe all black would be the way to go.

Wishing you lots of great sales on your delicious edibles and other wares and hoping you have great weather. I know you’ll have terrific turnout regardless!

And when you have a chance…I know you are beyond busy and the clock is ticking…make sure to come by for a visit. But maybe AFTER the Farm Sale as you will be saddened to see the fury that Mother Nature unleashed on our tiny town a week ago today.

Take care of yourself and your chickens,

I don’t think you can go wrong with black. Half of my wardrobe is black – I’m like a chubby Morticia Adams!

Best of luck with the sale 🙂

I’m a bit artsy so I love the purple and the sash being blue makes it even more interesting. With some awesone jewelry I think it will look great just as it is. Maybe find shoes the same as the sash?

  4. Pamela

Can’t go wrong with a classic colour!

Black is always classy and does make one look/feel thinner.
I am not a purple fan (ok, when I was 9 yrs. old it was my fave color because it was Donny Osmond’s and that would surely put me in the running for girlfriend, right?) but I DO like the purple gown…if the sash still has a purple tint to it, I would pick the purple. If the sash doesn’t have a purple tint to it, go for black.
Now if you dye it black, will the purple come through so it looks like “midnight black”?

I have just asked a lover of purple her opinion – that is my teenage daughter who resides in ‘the caravan of chic’ as we refer to it – she has a caravan she renovated and decorated herself. All the soft furnishings and accessories had to be purple! She says black for this gown. If it was my gown I would dye it black. What jewelery will you wear? shoes? Maybe this will influence your decision. Everything goes with black! Looking forward to see the pictures of you – it is a beautiful gown.

  7. Tamra

    Black, definitely black.

  8. Selina

Hmmm….I’m completely undecided, so afraid I can’t be of any help. It looks lovely as purple, but I’m sure it would be lovely as black too. You have amazing talent and skills to be dying clothes, I have never dyed anything!!
I hope your sale goes well, thank-you for sharing about it. If I was a bit closer I would definitely go, but it’s a bit of a trip from Australia 😉
    All the best,

  9. Alison Gibbs

Ooh I love it as it is now but I guess it would dye okay in black.
Black is something you can’t go wrong with

  10. Stephanie

It’s a pretty soft vintage shade of purple, but black would look good too.

  11. cityfarmer

I love the two colors as shown … the accidental ball gown … wish I had one.

  12. Pam

It sounds to me like your gut is telling you to go for black. Listen to your gut. :0)

  13. à la parisienne

If it were me, I would go with black mainly because you more than likely have shoes to match this dress. With a purple dress, you may feel awkward trying to find the right shoes and accessories to match. Plus black is always so elegant and definitely flattering.

    Bonne chance!

if you wanted all safe and secure you would not be wearing a funky vintage gown! SO go with the purple. it is fun, it is youthful and you would be stunning in it. shoes? anything! got to be comfy, converse, flip flops, keds….LOTS of big jewels…i want to wear this dress!

  15. Victoria

I would love it in purple, especially with the navy sash. I’m now drawn to color over black every time (after a decade of an all-black closet).

But for you, I think black is the way to go. And I say tone it down with the jewels – you will be in a barn after all.
    … just my two cents.

  16. Mrs. B.

I wont get to see you in your gorgeous dress. Purple, black or any color in between, but I will see you the next day at the sale. !!!!
Super excited to meet an internet bud in person. This will be my first blog-friend real-life meeting. Eeep!
Forgive me if I am tres ackward. 🙂

I don’t have any opinions about dresses…my wife says I’m not allowed because of my tastes and colorblindness.lol
I’ve enjoyed looking over your blog. I came across it through another blog I follow, and I’m glad I did. I am now a follower of yours as well. Feel free to look over my blog and perhaps become one as well.

  19. Jamie Willow

    oh I love the purple…

it’s a beautiful gown no matter what! can’t wait to see what you chose!

I’m late, I’m late…so sorry not to read this post until now. Taking the fashion consultant position for now, purple doesn’t look like Spring/Summer. So definitely BLACK. Black & White are always right. Remember this line, recite it to yourself. And laugh! xx’s

  21. Annie

Oh, I wish that I had read your post earlier. I would have said “Black and take the sash thing off.” What did you choose?
