It’s old news I know…
I really don’t like Facebook.
Well, I guess I should say I hate how “young” people are addicted to it… I can see how it would be useful for me to stay in touch… but I can’t add any more screen time to my life… that is, I couldn’t until I saw this…
To my “high church” readers or those like me concerned with people/churches who try to make The Truth relevant to this culture… please find no offense… I think it’s difficult for many to remember these were real people. A YOUNG girl, pregnant, betrothed, unwed in an ancient culture, steeped in tradition and law…
I loved this…I am in no way trying to reduce The Gospel to the Social Media… but check this out… darned if it didn’t give me goosebumps.
I don’t like facebook either…I got talked into signing up by old church friends who wanted to keep in touch. I have almost deleted my account many times, but what has stopped me is my young adult/teenage children. I want to keep in touch with them and this is how they do it. Alot of things change when your children grow up. You become more accepting. Mine have taken me through many trials which have softened my heart, humbled me, and made me more accepting and loving of their generation. They are just like me, desiring to be loved, and texting/facebooking/myspacing etc. etc. is apart of how they communicate. I may not like it, but I have learned to let it go…and to love them in all ways.
Loved this – so creative. Less than 2000 views so far but I’m sure it is going to be passed around all the social networking sites. Just posted it on my FB page, hope that it speaks in some way to one of those friends of mine who have forgotten the real story of Christmas.
God chose Mary as the Mother of Our Savior…Our Lord…She is our Mother too
if we could all be humble like her and accept God’s love and suffering so patiently…or be silently strong liked Saint Joseph
Merry Christmas Angela!
Along with reading these verses in the Bible, this Facebook illustration could possibly help young teens really relate (even some adults!). So many times we read the Bible and we think of the people mentioned as “characters” in a story and never allow their true humanity to sink into our minds. Sometimes we fail to really understand and relate. I agree we have to be careful about manipulating the Bible to fit our culture. As long as things are portrayed truthfully and with reverance and prayer, using different methods/mediums for explaining Biblical events can definitely be helpful and effective.
Thank you for sharing this. I don’t think I would have run across this on my own!
Have a MERRY CHRISMTAS!

I loved this video. Yesterday, I saw it on one of my friend’s FB and then put it on my facebook as well as my blog.
It made me smile.
Down to earth and up to date.
Merry Christmas!

Hi! I just stumbled across your blog and am loving it! I had to watch the video and went out on YouTube to send it out to a few people I knew would appreciate since I don’t do Facebook either.
I have loved your blog so much, just had to join your Groupies. Can’t wait to read more!
Thanks and Merry Christmas,
xoxo,
Ellen
A friend sent me this earlier in the week. Very clever. Also, not sure if you have come across this blog yet or not but I thought of you when I read her post today about her chickens. Here is the link. BTW, How’s it going with your chickens?

I also don’t have time to do facebook as well as blog, but I do think this is very well done! Thanks for sharing it!
Renata:)
I saw this on facebook and loved it. I think it’s good to remind us that they were real people. So often we focus on keeping Jesus present because he’s a third of God, but forget about the faithful parents who brought him into this world and fretted over him.
First, I must be a Parisienne, because I’m not a Farmgirl! Just saw that part on your comments link.
I had not seen this one, but I like Igniter Media’s stuff. I’m going to go friend Mary and Joseph. I had no idea they are on FB! 😉
Loved this!! THanks for sharing and I hope you and your beautiful family had a Very Merry CHRISTmas!
I just about did not watch this (I deleted my facebook one week ago!) Glad I did…very very touching!!
