Hand it Down!

My good friend Beth (Oui, the tall and willowy one mentioned in the previous entry!) invited me out for a more than fun Saturday morning in a nearby town this weekend – sans les enfants! I am pretty much a homebody and like it that way…I have upon occasion met a friend for dinner and done a few “girls only” things in the last two years but not a Saturday morning. I still can’t get over how I enjoyed myself. I immensely enjoy this friend’s company and getting pedicures and tooling around in her husbands BMW convertible didn’t suck* either. Those who know me well know that I am looking forward to buying my Grandpas old red Silverado next year that smells like a farmer and hogs – I am not really a car/label person but come on – this was a sa-weet ride on a beautiful Saturday morning.

She shared with me that there was a great children’s consignemnt event going on in town so that is where we met and I was able to hit the jackpot with a practically brand new Baby Bjorn for “Le Deuxieme”, a back pack that can carry Aidan that is like new now that it’s clean and more “label” clothing that is in excellent condition and very much Aidan’s little “style.” He is sure to look sharp this fall.

One of the best finds was a lovely coat and hat for the winter. I bought it big (4T) and wanted him to try it on when I arrived home. Those of you who know Aidan know he loves to wear things like hats and sunglasses and for the most part leaves them on. It was no different with this coat.

HE WOULD NOT TAKE IT OFF.

Not only that but he wanted to wear it outside while he mowed the lawn with Daddy… 78 degrees, with sunglasses, a HOT winter coat, matching hat and a bubble-making lawnmower – for 30 minutes he played outside, imitating Joel’s every move.

More than one neighbor pulled over to comment. It was beyond hilarious.

Thankfully it was a day full of laughter and money saving good buys because our lawn mover bit the dust. My fellow antiquers/junkers will be happy to know I found those full-of-potential Louis chairs on my way to meet Beth for $20 EACH!

*(Since Aidan repeats everything I say I can’t say S-U-C-K anymore so I just have to get it out of my system with you fine ladies – sorry.)
