Amélie Joëlene

Amélie on Christmas Day

Born Christmas Eve Morning 2007

8:25ish

19.5 inches

8.5 pounds

‘Twas the ‘Morn Before Christmas

“Twas the morn before Christmas and all through the house,
Not a creature was stirring, just a thirty-second contraction every fifteen minutes or so…no big deal…or so I thought,
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
In hopes that P.R. le Deuxieme soon would be there.
Aidan was nestled with us all snug in our new king size bed,
While visions of Thomas Trains and Ju (nior) cars danced in his head.
I in my pretty new sheets and Joel in his ratty old Door County sweatshirt had just enjoyed the best nights sleep in weeks (a sure sign that something was up!)
When out of the bed there arose such a clatter,
P.R. Le Deuxieme had kicked me SO HARD I sprang from my bed to see what was the matter!
To grip the bathroom door frame I flew like a flash,
Joel ripped from his sleep, tore back the covers, Aidan threw up the sash!
The daylight on the white tile bathroom did fall and there were the Reed’s with a midwife to call!
When what to our wondering eyes should appear but a tiny little head, there was no time to fear.
With the midwife’s six little words,
“I think you’re on your own!” Joel pulled on a head, then a shoulder and welcomed
La Deuxieme into our home!”

Amélie and Momma on her birthday.
